Kane could be rested

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is considering resting Harry Kane for the Europa League clash against Monaco on Thursday.

Spurs have already qualified for the knockout stages of the competition but a draw will see them finish first in the group.

Kane has played in all of Tottenham's 21 fixtures this season and Pochettino believes he would benefit from having a break ahead of the busy Christmas and New Year period.

"Is it a chance to rest him? Maybe yes," Pochettino said. "He is in the squad for tomorrow but it is true we need to assess him this afternoon and we have to decide the starting 11 for tomorrow.

"There may be one or two more changes but not much.

"I think the squad we have is strong enough to compete in different competitions but maybe if you compare (the team) to the game against Qarabag there will be some changes, but not too much."

Nabil Bentaleb and Nacer Chadli have returned to the squad but Mousa Dembele will miss the game through illness.
