Addison joins up with Ireland training squad

Will Addison has joined up with the Ireland World Cup training squad.

Addison was omitted from Joe Schmidt's 44-man pre-season squad after undergoing back surgery in April, but the Ulster utility back was able to join up with the panel this week after returning to training earlier than expected.

The 26-year-old returned to pre-season training with Ulster at the start of the month and after making good progress in his comeback he has linked up with his international team-mates.

Having made his debut against Italy in Chicago in November, Addison went on to feature against Argentina and the USA and he will be hoping to be included in Schmidt's squad for the World Cup in Japan later this year.

Ireland have spent the week training in Galway before moving on to Limerick where they will host an open session at Thomond Park on Friday. Their first warm-up game against Italy will take place at the Aviva Stadium on 10 August.
