Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will serve a four-match ban following his sending off in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Chelsea.
Aguero was shown a straight red late in the closing stages of the game at the Etihad Stadium for a high challenge on Chelsea defender David Luiz.
The 28-year-old received a retrospective red card for a challenge on West Ham's Winston Reid in August and, as a consequence of being sent off for violent conduct for the second time this season, he has been handed a four-match suspension.
Team-mate Fernandinho was also sent off for his clash with Cesc Fabregas in the melee that followed Aguero's tackle on Luiz and he will serve a three-match ban.
Aguero will miss the games against Leicester, Watford, Arsenal and Hull, while Fernandinho will return for the visit to the KCOM Stadium on St Stephen's Day.
Both City and Chelsea are expected to face disciplinary action for failing to control their players.
