Sergio Aguero wants to end Argentina's trophy drought for his strike partner Lionel Messi.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has four Champions League crowns and 10 La Liga titles with Barcelona but success on the international stage has eluded him – Argentina have suffered four defeats in their last four finals.
As well as losing the 2014 World Cup final to Germany, Argentina have lost the last two Copa America finals on penalties to Chile and they will be hoping to put that right by lifting the trophy at the Maracana on July 7.
Aguero is expected to play a big role for his country in the Copa America and he is determined to do all he can to deliver the trophy to the team and to Messi.
"I'm more excited about winning for Leo than for myself because he has played for so long and he has suffered so much," Aguero told Fox Sports. "Whenever I talk with Leo, we always say 'Pray that one day it happens for us'. It's what he wants and it's what we all want. I put myself in his shoes and I want to do the best."
Aguero lifted a domestic treble with Manchester City and after a successful season at club level he is hoping to transfer his food form onto the international stage.
"I'm feeling fit and I finished the season well, I have no injuries and I want to do the same for Argentina as I do with City," he added.
