Toby Alderweireld insists he is committed to Tottenham despite the ongoing uncertainty over his future.
Tottenham last week triggered a one-year extension to his contract, tying him down to the club until summer 2020, but in doing so they activated a £25million release clause that will run up to the final two weeks of the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United last summer and the one-year extension has done little to dampen the speculation over his future at the club.
Despite the ongoing speculation, the defender believes he has shown his commitment to Tottenham by his performances.
“I’m very happy to stay another year. It was [a one-year extension] in my contract and I’m happy Spurs gave me the confidence to stay another year," Alderweireld said.
“People can see that every time I play that I give 100 per cent for this club — this is what I keep doing every time I play.
“I’m only focused on things on the pitch. This is my fourth season and I’m very happy. I’m doing everything to help the team.”
