Sam Allardyce has called for Watford mascot 'Harry the Hornet' to be subject to disciplinary action from the FA.
Wilfried Zaha was booked for an alleged dive by Mark Clattenburg near the end of Crystal Palace's 1-1 draw at Watford and after the game had finished, the mascot dived at the feet of Zaha when he went to applaud the travelling Eagles supporters.
Zaha reacted angrily and Allardyce believes the FA should take action against the mascot.
“The mascot is out of order, isn’t he? If someone is diving, they don’t get that angry,” he said.
“There’s contact. It wasn’t given.
“That’s up to Watford to sort that [the mascot] out, really. The Premier League and FA can look at that and do what they want to do.
“It could have made the wrong reaction, as we know. But I didn’t see it. I’m more concerned about my team, the overall performance.”
Allardyce also contended that the incident involving Zaha should have seen his new side be a awarded a penalty.
Meanwhile Watford boss Walter Mazzarri saw the funny side of Harry the Hornet's actions.
“Let’s laugh altogether about this,” he said. “Everything doesn’t have to be a drama.
“I couldn’t see (the Zaha penalty incident) from where I was standing. Believe me, I didn’t see that. Or our penalty.”
