Alonso: I'm the best overall driver

Two-time champion makes claim

Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso still believes that he is the best driver in Formula One.

The McLaren driver made the claim despite not having won the championship since recording consecutive triumphs a decade ago for Renault.

However, the 35-year-old still believes that he is the best overall driver and is confident that he can win the championship for a third time.

"I always feel confident about beating anyone," he said.

"I don't believe that I'm better than anyone on pure speed in qualifying, I don't think I'm better than anyone in wet conditions, dry conditions, qualifying, race.

"But if you put me in the same car at the same moment and same track as anyone. I think that I will beat them.

"Maybe I'm not best of all sections, but overall I will beat them."
