Altior tops Spirit declarations
Arkle Trophy favourite Altior will face up to six rivals in Saturday's Betfair Exchange Chase at Newbury.
Registered as the Game Spirit Chase, the Grade Two has a rich history with previous winners Master Minded, Well Chief and Sprinter Sacre all going on to taste victory at the Cheltenham Festival.
Altior is the hot favourite to win the Arkle Trophy following news of Min's withdrawal on Tuesday and Nicky Henderson's charge will start as favourite to make it four wins from four starts over fences when he lines up in the two-mile feature on Saturday.
Just seven horses have been declared with Colin Tizzard's Fox Norton heading the opposition.
Former Champion Chase winner Dodging Bullets has been declared by Paul Nicholls with the champion trainer confirming him to be on course for the feature.
"He looks great at the moment but he's obviously not quite what he was. He'll run on Saturday because he's hard to place now and then I suspect at Cheltenham he'll end up running in the Grand Annual, dropping back to a handicap," Nicholls said.
Garde La Victoire could take his chance for Phillip Hobbs following his win in the 32Red Casino Handicap Chase at Sandown last month, while Kerry Lee has declared Gino Trail.
Tom George's Module and Traffic Fluide from Gary Moore's yard complete the declarations.
