Dani Alves has urged Brazil team-mate Philippe Coutinho to move to Barcelona, believing him to deserve to play at a higher level than Liverpool.
The attacking midfielder has been linked with a move to either the Spanish champions or Paris St-Germain with the latter rumoured to be preparing a £45m bid.
Coutinho has been quoted as expressing a wish to be challenging for trophies every year - although he did reach two finals with the Merseysiders last campaign - saying; “I miss winning cups. Copa America is another opportunity for me, because every player dreams of winning cups.”
And Alves, who is leaving the Nou Camp to join Juventus this summer after eight years in Barcelona, feels Coutinho should make the move to one of Europe's biggest clubs.
“Football is about living the moment,” Alves told Yahoo Esportes. “Liverpool have history but you should consider playing for top Champions League sides.
“He has the quality to play for Barcelona.”
