Army Ranger out of Derby

US Army Ranger is to miss the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.

The son of Galileo had been due to spearhead Aidan O'Brien's assault on the Curragh Classic after finished just a length-and-a-half behind Harzand in the Investec Derby earlier this month.

However, a dirty scope means he will not line up in Saturday's contest.

"His scope just wasn't 100% clean today. It was a routine scope. Obviously it's a big pity," said O'Brien.

"He'll have a little rest now and we'll see where we go from there."

US Army Ranger's defection means Ryan Moore will partner Idaho with Shogun and Port Douglas also set to take their chance for the Ballydoyle handler.
