Ban to delay Pogba debut

Paul Pogba will have to wait at least a week to make his Manchester United debut because of suspension.

Pogba had been in line to make his second debut for the club at Bournemouth on Sunday after his £89million transfer to Old Trafford was concluded earlier this week.

However, he is unavailable for selection due to a suspension he picked up when he was issued with two yellow cards during last season's Coppa Italia.

The suspension means his debut is likely to be against Southampton at Old Trafford on Friday.

Speaking to the media on Friday, manager Jose Mourinho admitted he was unaware of the ban when Pogba signed for the club.

"I found out two days ago,” he said.

“I knew the situation with the yellow cards but I didn’t know if an accumulation would bring a suspension.”
