Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is confident Lionel Messi will spend the remainder of his career at the Nou Camp.
Messi's existing deal is due to expire in June 2018 and it was reported earlier this week that the 29-year-old had failed to reach an agreement over a new contract. Indeed, it was claimed that he will wait until the end of his current contract before making a decision on his future.
Barcelona are keen to keep hold of the Argentina captain and Bartomeu is convinced he will commit his future to the Catalan giants.
"We are convinced Messi will finish his career (at Barcelona), as it has to happen, he is our leader and we are very relaxed thinking (about) his renewal," Bartomeu told reporters at the unveiling of Barcelona's new shirt sponsorship.
"He's the player who has brought us success all these years."
