Joey Barton is being investigated for allegations that he broke football betting rules.
The Scottish Football Association and the Gambling Commission are investigating claims that the controversial midfielder placed a bet on Celtic to suffer a heavy defeat to Barcelona in their Champions League Group C opener last week.
SFA rules prohibit players from betting on football and if found guilty the 34-year-old could face a ban.
News of the investigation comes just a day after Barton was banned by Rangers for three weeks following a training ground bust-up in the wake of the club's 5-1 defeat to Celtic.
