Berahino looking sharper - Pulis

Saido Berahino is looking 'brighter and sharper' as he bids to prove his fitness, West Brom manager Tony Pulis has said.

Pulis placed the striker, who netted 20 goals in all competitions during the 2014-15 season but just four times last term, on a personal fitness plan last month after club tests found he was eight pounds above his ideal weight.

He took part in an intense four-day fitness camp in France and is now back training with the West Brom first-team.

Pulis has been impressed with his attitude and is keen to introduce him back into the team in the coming weeks.

"I had a good chat with Saido yesterday. He looks brighter and sharper. Fitness, he's getting there. The next step is getting him games and hopefully that will happen in the next few weeks," Pulis told reporters ahead of Monday's Premier League match against Burnley.

"A lot of people have spoken to him. He's got bad advice and he needs to unravel things and think on his own two feet. The demands and stresses are there for all to see.

"He's been in demand ever since I've been here. It's been a saga that's continued to run. The most important thing is football.

"He's trained well this week, but he needs now to be involved in games. Mentally he's a lot clearer in his mind."

Salomon Rondon is available for the visit of Burnley but midfielder Nacer Chadli must prove his fitness after undergoing a minor operation on his knee.

Chadli withdrew from the Belgium squad for the games against the Netherlands and Estonia because of the surgery and he will have to prove his fitness ahead of Monday's game.

"Chadli will be a late one. He's been out on the grass for the first time today. We won't take chances if we don't need to. Salomon Rondon will be fine," Pulis added.
