Blackburn Rovers boss Owen Coyle wants the Championship club to offer Ireland international Shane Duffy a new contract.
Duffy, who started Ireland's matches against Italy and France at Euro 2016, is in the final year of his contract at Ewood Park.
Premier League side Swansea City and Scottish champions Celtic are reportedly keen on the 24-year-old, but Coyle hopes he can persuade the Derryman to continue his football education at Ewood Park.
"I will indicate to Shane Duffy and anybody in that situation, that at Blackburn Rovers we’d love to have them here,” Coyle told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"All we can do is enter into that dialogue, present something to the players and their representatives, and see where we go from there.
"That’s certainly in my mind to keep those good players and try and be proactive in doing that.
"Decisions will have to be made at some point and then we’ll take it from there."
Duffy has made 60 league appearances for Blackburn since joining the club from Everton in September 2014, netting five goals.
