Robbie Brady will miss Ireland’s next World Cup qualifier against Moldova following a head injury he sustained in a 1-0 victory over Georgia.
The Norwich player collided with Georgian defender Solomon Kverkvelia in the 81st minute and was replaced by Glen Whelan, leaving the pitch on a stretcher.
A statement from the Football Association of Ireland, declared that despite been given the all-clear after a night in hospital, Brady will not make the trip to Moldova.
"Robbie Brady has been released from the squad following concussion suffered in the 1-0 win over Georgia on Thursday, October 6," read the statement.
"Brady spent the night in hospital and underwent a precautionary scan, but he has been cleared by the FAI medical staff.
"Midfielder Jeff Hendrick is suspended for Sunday's Group D game in Chisinau, but has travelled with the squad.
"There is no reaction to the knock that Shane Long received against Georgia and he is expected to train on Saturday."
The Boys in Green will also be without Jeff Hendrick after the Burnley man picked up his second yellow card in as many games, leaving Martin O’Neill with few options in the midfield department.
Seamus Coleman’s first goal for Ireland hand O’Neill’s side the 1-0 win despite a lacklustre performance.
