Clare senior football All-Star nominee Gary Brennan hopes to "keep a hand in both camps" and continue playing club hurling in the New Year.
Brennan, who starred in midfield for the Clare football side that won Division 3 of the National League and reached the All-Ireland quarter-finals this year, was part of the Ballyea side that beat Glen Rovers in the Munster Hurling Club Final on Sunday.
Ballyea's All-Ireland semi-final against St. Thomas' takes place in February 2017, as do the opening fixtures of Clare's NHL Division 2 campaign.
Brennan has indicated that he wants to juggle inter-county football and club hurling until Ballyea’s All-Ireland campaign comes to an end, which could be as late as March if they reach the final.
"To be honest, I haven’t even thought about the dates. I was just focused on the game [the Munster final]," he said.
"I’ll have to sit down and have a chat with the lads but obviously I’d be hoping to try and keep a hand in both camps.
"It’s a very, very important National League for us, going up to Division 2 next year, and I’d be hoping to be involved.
"I’ll have to talk to the lads involved in Ballyea here first but I’ve always said that football is my number one game.
"Absolutely I’ll want to give everything to this, to Ballyea, and do our very, very best to get to an All-Ireland final but I’ll have to look at the dates during the week, have a chat with a few people and sort that out."
