Nina Carberry is to miss the remainder of the 2016-17 National Hunt season as she is expecting her first child.
A four-time winner of the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, Carberry rode her 16 winner of the season in Ireland at Down Royal last Friday but she will sit out the remainder of the campaign after revealing her pregnancy.
"I'm going to miss the rest of the season as I am delighted to announce I am expecting my first baby. I would like to thank all the owners and trainers who have supported me and I wish them every success in the season ahead," Carberry tweeted.
Carberry rode her first winner at the Cheltenham Festival in 2005 when he partnered Dabiroun to victory in the Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle and she went on to become the first female jockey to win the Irish Grand National since 1984 when scoring aboard Organisedconfusion for her uncle Arthue Moore in 2011.
