Carrick rules out another club

Michael Carrick does not expect to play for another club when he finally leaves Manchester United.

Carrick joined United from Tottenham in 2006 and will become a free agent at the end of the season unless he agrees a new contract.

The 35-year-old had been expected to leave Old Trafford last summer but was offered a new deal following Jose Mourinho's appointment as manager and the Portuguese has indicated that he wants the former England international to stay for another year.

While he is relaxed about what the future holds, Carrick insists he does not see himself moving to another club when his time at United finally comes to an end.

"It is not something I am looking to do at the minute - it would be very difficult to play somewhere else," Carrick said.

"Everyone is different. It depends on circumstance. It depends on a lot of things.

"I have said all along, I am relaxed about it (his future). It depends if I am playing and if I am playing well enough, if I feel I can contribute, if the manager feels I can contribute. There are a lot of things to be decided. I am quite relaxed."

Carrick has made just nine appearances this season but he has started four of the past five games and he is confident he can continue to contribute to the team.

"At any stage of your career, people have their strengths and what they can't do so well. You just have to put yourself in a position where you can play to your strengths more often than not. You learn that from experience," he explained.

"As long as I am enjoying it, can feel I can contribute and the manager does then great."
