Edinson Cavani believes Uruguay showed the right attitude and mentality to top Group C at the Copa America.
Uruguay went into Monday's final Group C match in second spot behind their opponents Chile, but Oscar Tabarez's side defeated the reigning champions 1-0 to become the only side to win all three games in the group stage.
Cavani grabbed the only goal of the game, eight minutes from time, to set up a quarter-final date against Peru and the 32-year-old was pleased with how they approached the game.
"In some moments we played well, in other moments less well, but always with the (right) attitude and mentality we were able to snatch the game," he said.
"We wanted to win the group without knowing what would come next, to show a good image in the group and continue with this attitude."
Uruguay will face Peru in Salvador on Saturday with Chile taking on Colombia in the last eight on Friday and Tabarez is delighted to have an extra day to recover before the quarter-final game.
"One extra day of rest is useful, it's important, because we're on the limit," he explained. "It was a keenly contested match with few spaces. We managed a little bit better than our opponents."
