Santi Cazorla has undergone a successful operation on his ankle.
The Spain international has not played for Arsenal since their 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets on October 19 and the club had hoped he would not require surgery on his troublesome ankle.
With the injury showing no signs of improving, the 31-year-old travelled to Sweden this week to undergo surgery surgery on the plantaris tendon in his right ankle.
While he is expected to be out until March, Cazorla posted a picture on Instagram from his hospital bed to confirm the surgery was a success.
"Surgery done. It was perfect! Looking forward to be back with you at #EmiratesStadium @Arsenal #countdown," Cazorla wrote on Instagram.
