Chappell takes Deutsche Bank lead

Kevin Chappell will take a one shot lead into the third round of the Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston.

The American is chased by England's Paul Casey - who signed for a five-under-par 66 on Saturday - and US PGA winner Jimmy Walker who lie on -10.

Among the 'big names', Dustin Johnson is three shots off the pace on eight under par while last week's Barclays winner Patrick Reed and Olympic gold medallist Justin Rose are a stroke further behind.

The man Rose pipped to the top prize in Rio, Henrik Stenson, had an up-and-down round of 70 which started with a double bogey and included four other dropped shots and a collection of birdies.

Best of the Irish is Rory McIlroy who fired a four-under round of 67 which featured seven birdies; compatriot Graeme McDowell however, missed the cut.

The cut also claimed Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson while world number one Jason Day made it with nothing to spare and sits 10 shots behind the leader on -1.

The event is the second of the four tournaments which make up the FedEx Cup and of the 100 participants this week, just 70 will advance to next week's BMW Championship.

A fortnight later the Tour Championship will see the top 30 players battle it out for the $10m jackpot.
