Chelsea are close to appointing Antonio Conte as their new manager, according to widespread reports.
It is understood that talks are at an advantaged stage between the Italy coach's representatives and Chelsea and it has been speculated that a deal could be finalised within the next ten days.
Although talks are progressing, the club may want to delay the announcement until after Chelsea's Champions League last-16 second-leg tie against Paris Saint-Germain on March 9 - the Blues currently trail the French champions 2-1.
Chelsea have been without a permanent manager since December when Jose Mourinho departed and a number of names have been linked to the position, including Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone.
Conte is contracted to Italy until after Euro 2016 but he has made no secret of his desire to return to club management and he appears to have edged ahead of the other contenders with the former Juventus coach closing in on a three-year contract.
