Chelsea exclude Falcao from Europe

Fading striker out of Champions League squad

Chelsea have omitted Radamel Falcao from their 25-man squad for the Champions League knockout stages.

The 29-year-old has been replaced in the squad by Alexandra Pato, who this week joined on loan until the end of the season.

The Colombian has been sidelined since October due to a thigh injury and has only made one Premier League start this season.

Falcao moved to Stamford Bridge last July after spending an unsuccessful season on loan at Old Trafford, failing spectacularly to rediscover the form which made him one of the most feared strikers in the world before suffering a succession of knee injuries.

The striker has been named however, in the Blues’ 25-man Premier League squad.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini meanwhile, revealed earlier in the week that Kelechi Iheanacho will replace Samir Nasri in City's 25-man Champions League squad.

Former France international midfielder Nasri is set for at least another two months on the sidelines following a hamstring injury and tendon trouble since November.
