Bournemouth have appealed against the red card shown to Simon Francis in the 3-3 draw with Arsenal on Tuesday.
Francis was sent off by referee Michael Oliver for a challenge on Aaron Ramsey in the 82nd minute of the game at the Vitality Stadium.
Speaking after the match, manager Eddie Howe said: "I don't think it was a red card in my opinion.
"I think it's probably a foul but I don't think he's lifted his studs in a dangerous way, so I think it's a harsh decision. "
The Cherries have now lodged an appeal in the hope of having the decision overturned.
"AFC Bournemouth have appealed against Simon Francis' red card after the defender was sent off during Tuesday's match with Arsenal. The club will hear the outcome by the end of the week," a statement on the club's website read.
As things stand Francis will miss the FA Cup third-round game at Millwall on Saturday as well as the Premier League games against Hull and Watford.
