Cherries release Distin

Sylvain Distin has been released by Bournemouth after failing to make an impact at the club.

Distin joined the Cherries on a free transfer from Everton last July, but he only managed 14 starts for the club, while he was a substitute on three occasions.

His last appearance came in the 3-1 victory at Newcastle on March 5 and the club have opted to release him when his contract expires at the end of June.

Stephane Zubar, Josh Carmichael, Josh Wakefield, Mason Walsh and Jon Muleba will also leave the Vitality Stadium.

"AFC Bournemouth would like to thank all of these players for their service to the club, and wish them all the best in their future endeavours," the club confirmed.
