Manchester City's recent spending spree continued as they have signed Marlos Moreno from Colombian side Atletico National for a reported feee of £4.5m.
The winger agreed a five-year deal to join the Etihad Stadium outfit and will be loaned out to Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna for the upcoming season.
The 19-year-old is the club's seventh new recruit as Guardiola looks to reshape and freshen up an ageing squad with Leroy Sane, Nolito, Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Aaron Mooy having joined already this summer.
Moreno caught the eye as his club won the Copa Libertadores earlier this year and he pinpointed Guardiola as one of the main reasons he signed for City.
"City are one of the best clubs in the world," he said. "It will be nice to
experience being part of such a big club. I want to make the most of it.
“Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world. I think he
likes young players very much and he can improve young players
tactically and technically. It will be great to work with him and to be
part of a great team.”
Txiki Begiristain, City's Director of Football, believes Moreno's signing is a coup for the club.
“Marlos is an excellent prospect who has already broken into his national team," he said. "“He’s a versatile player, still learning, but we believe he has a fantastic future in the game and with City.
“He makes and scores goals and is an intelligent footballer, we’re delighted to have signed him."
