CL round-up: Kane hat-trick seals Spurs win

A Harry Kane hat-trick helped Tottenham Hotspur maintain their 100 percent start in the Champions League with an impressive 3-0 victory over Apoel Nicosia in Group H.

The striker, who hit a brace against Borussia Dortmund in the opening group game, hand the London outfit the lead in the 39th minute when he found the bottom-corner after Toby Alderweireld found him in space.

Kane then doubled his and Spurs' tally in the 62nd minute when he coolly dispatched Moussa Sissoko's accurate cross.

It was game over as Kane became just the seventh English player to register a hat-trick in the Champions League, heading into the net from close-range.

Despite the win, Spurs at times were lucky to be level with Hugo Lloris denying the Cypriot side twice, but showed how clinical they can be, hitting three goals with their first three efforts on target.

Spurs go level on points with Real Madrid and six points ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who were beaten 3-1 by the Spanish side in the other group game.

frustrated Liverpool still search for their first win in this season's Champions League after drawing 1-1 with Spartak Moscow in Group H.

Despite dominating the opening proceedings, Jurgen Klopp's side were left to rue missed chances as the hosts took the lead through Fernando's free-kick, although questions will be asked of Reds' keeper Loris Karius who should have done better.

The Reds deservedly pulled level in the 31st minute after Philippe Coutinho linked up with Sadio Mane before the Brazilian finished well for his first Champions League goal.

Liverpool pushed forward for the winner but failed to find one as Roberto Firmino and Mane missed late opportunities.

They now sit two points off group leaders Sevilla, who overcame Maribor 2-0.

Kevin De Bruyne hit a stunning strike as Manchester City overcame Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 to make it two wins from two in Group F.

City struggled to re-produce the free-flowing attack seen in recent games, until the former Chelsea midfielder played a one-two with David Silva before superbly curling his effort into the net in the 48th minute for his first goal of the season.

Raheem Sterling continued his impressive form with a goal in the 90th minute after he slotted home from a Bernardo Silva cut-back.

Sergio Aguero missed an opportunity to pull level with Eric Brook's all-time goalscoring record for the Blues after he saw his penalty saved by Andriy Pyatov.

The 'keeper denied the Argentine twice before that and he and his side were unlucky not to have registered a goal of their own when Marlos was denied from close-range before Facundo Ferreyra somehow headed wide from six-yards out.

Meanwhile, Napoli eased past Feyenoord 3-1 in the other group tie.
