Shane O'Donnell scored twice in the first-half as Clare beat Limerick 3-17 to 2-16 to reach the Munster hurling final against either Cork or Waterford.
The visitors had to fight off a late comeback from the Buttermilks, who managed to score a late goal when Kyle Hayes fired home from long-range, setting up a tense finale.
Conor McGrath also registered a goal after the break for Clare and despite Tony Kelly sending his penalty wide, the Banner men held on to record their first provincial championship victory in four years.
Limerick did look like getting back into the tie midway through the first-half when David Dempsey found the back of the net before Cian Lynch hit quick back-to-back points, but Clare going into the break leading proved instrumental as they ran out comfortable winners.
