Clare confirm management team

Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor have been appointed as joint managers the Clare senior hurling team.

The Clare County Board ratified their appointment on an initial two-year term on Tuesday evening, while Colm Collins will continue in his role as Clare senior football manager for another year.

Donal Og Cusack is to remain as part of the coaching team, with Liam Cronin taking up some role.

Moloney and O'Connor guided Clare's Under-21 hurlers to three consecutive All-Ireland titles in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and the new position will see them work once more with the likes of Tony Kelly, Podge Collins and Shane O'Donnell.

Anthony Daly had been in the running to succeed Davy Fitzgerald as Clare manager but he will now continue to work with the Limerick minor team.

Conor McGregor will fight Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight belt at UFC 205 in New York on November 12 live on the eir Sport pack. The eir Sport pack is free to all eir broadband customers. To learn more about setting sport free visit www.eir.ie/sport .
