Clare's Kelly out for two months

Clare centre-forward Tony Kelly faces two months out after suffering ankle ligament damage in training.

The 2013 Hurler of the Year suffered the injury last week, but Clare only confirmed the news in a statement to the 42.ie on Wednesday.

"Tony will be out for up to 8 weeks due an ankle ligament picked up in training last week. A scan confirmed the injury yesterday," the Clare statement read.

Clare begin their Allianz League Division 1B campaign against Offaly at Cusack Park on 14 February, and face Waterford in June in the Munster SHC semi-final.

All-Ireland-winning captain Pat Donnellan has already been ruled out for the foreseeable future after suffering a torn cruciate ligament.

The defender, who lifted the Liam MacCarthy Cup in 2013, suffered the injury while playing for the Banner in a challenge match against Munster club champions Na Piarsaigh on 16 January.
