Clifford in line for Kerry return

David Clifford could return to the Kerry squad for Saturday's Allianz Football League clash against Mayo at Austin Stack Park.

Clifford has not featured for the Kingdom this year after undergoing shoulder surgery during the off-season, but manager Peter Keane has revealed that he is 'not far away' from a return to full fitness.

James O'Donoghue is also closing in on a return and both players will be assessed before Keane and his selectors name their team.

"James trained last Friday night with us. He is close enough and will be training again this Wednesday night so we will be in a better position then to evaluate both players," Keane is quoted as saying in the Irish Examiner.

David Moran and Paul Geaney will definitely miss out as they recover from injuries.

“Paul Geaney has had a procedure done on his back and will not available on Saturday night or probably for our trip to Roscommon and the same applies to David Moran who has tendinitis,” Keane added.
