Kerry football has been given the very welcome news that rising star David Clifford has turned down a contract offer from the AFL.
The 18-year-old, who scored 4-04 in Kerry’s minor All-Ireland title victory over Derry, has been linked with a move Down Under all season, but according to the Irish Examiner the talent has opted to stay with Kerry for the time being at least.
Clifford’s decision comes following discussions with Kerry boss Eamonn Fitzmaurice, with Clifford no doubt part of Fitzmaurice’s plans having signed a three-year deal to stay on at the helm of The Kingdom.
