Colback reportedly facing betting probe

Newcastle midfielder could face FA charge

Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback is reportedly being investigated over claims that he has breached FA betting rules.

Strict gambling rules introduced in 2014 imposed a blanket ban on players and coaches from betting on any football-related activity worldwide.

Although it is understood that the investigation is unrelated to any games involving his club and their fight for Premier League survival, the 26-year-old could face an FA charge if there is enough evidence to suggest that a breach of the rules has occurred.

The FA has not commented on the case .

Colback has been a regular for Newcastle since joining from neighbours Sunderland in 2014.
