Coleman to partner Coneygree

Aidan Coleman has been booked to ride Coneygree in Saturday's Betfair Chase at Haydock.

With regular partner Nico de Boinville sidelined with a fractured arm, Richard Johnson schooled the 2015 Cheltenham Gold Cup earlier this week and was in pole position to take the reins on Saturday.

However, he is required to ride the Philip Hobbs-trained Menorah unless conditions at the Merseyside venue change.

"Aidan Coleman will ride Coneygree on Saturday at Haydock with the proviso that if the ground becomes too soft and Menorah is withdrawn Richard Johnson will take over in the saddle," trainer Mark Bradstock explained.

Coneygree has not run since he picked up a hock injury in the build-up to last year's King George VI Chase and he will face six rivals on his return.

Cue Card, who was beaten in the Charlie Hall Chase, is bidding for a second successive win in the Grade One, while Paul Nicholls has declared Silviniaco Conti, who was well beaten in the JNWine.com Champion Chase earlier this month.

Charlie Hall winner Irish Cavalier takes his chance alongside Seeyouatmidnight, while Vezelay completes the entries.
