Clare's Podge Collins will focus on hurling for 2017.
Collins combined both codes last season and was rewarded with both the senior footballers and senior hurlers reading the All-Ireland quarter-finals, but the Cratloe clubman has decided to commit to the Clare hurlers for 2017.
His decision is a big boost to joint-managers Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor, but is a blow to the Clare footballers, who are managed by his father Colm.
While he has opted to concentrate on hurling at inter-county level, the 24-year-old will continue to play both hurling and football with Cratloe.
