Michael Conlan looks set for an outdoor fight in his native Belfast this coming August.
The 2012 Olympic bronze medallist who has won all eleven of his fights as a professional, including six by knock-out, has been pencilled in to top the bill for Fight Night at Féile an Phobail in Falls Park in the city.
The proposed dates are either August 2nd-3rd or 9th-10th with an opponent expected to be confirmed next week. One name which is top of everyone’s wishlist is unbeaten Russian Vladimir Nikitin who beat Conlan at the 2016 Rio Olympics in highly contentious circumstances. Nikitin is in the same promotional stable as the Irishman after signing for top rank last year.
A bout with Nikitin would be sure to draw a big crowd eager to see Conlan take his revenge on his own patch. His last fight saw him defeat Mexico’s Ruben Garcia Hernandez on points over ten at Madison Square Garden over St Patrick’s Weekend.
