Conlan wins in style to go 4-0 in pro career

Michael Conlan’s pro career has continued on the right track after a convincing second-round stoppage victory over Kenny Guzman in Arizona on Friday night.

A devastating right hook floored Guzman in the featherweigth bout, with the US fighter scrambling back to his knees, but the referee jumping in to call a halt to proceedings.

Conlan now moves to 4-0 in a pro career that began in March of this year.

Speaking to BoxNation post-fight, Conlan commented: "I felt good.

"At the start I was a bit worried, I felt that he didn't have any power so I did the wrong thing and got reckless and wasn't minding taking punches, which is stupid of me.

"Manny (Robles – Conlan’s coach) shouted at me in the corner, but I was just happy to get a nice knock-out.

"I felt a bit more power tonight, I was working the body a bit more."

Next up for Conlan is fight number five on the undercard of the Vasyl Lomachenko-Guillermo Rigondeaux fight at Madison Square Garden on 9 December.

"It's a really special venue to me," added Conlan, who won his pro fight at the Garden against Tim Ibarra on St Patrick’s Day.

"For me to fight there, on possibly the two greatest amateurs' (undercard) ever in world boxing, it's a huge honour."

Michael Conlan’s victory over Kenny Guzman was live and exclusive on the eir Sport pack on BoxNation.
