Antonio Conte has hit out at the level of money clubs in China are prepared to pay for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, claimed his client was the subject of a transfer bid worth £257m while the player himself would receive around £86m per year in salary.
Mendes said the offer was turned down but following hot on the heels of Carlos Tevez being made the highest paid player in the world by his new team in Shanghai, Conte feels the amounts on offer are wrong.
“I think it’s an incredible story," he said. "We are talking about a lot, lot, lot of money.
“I don’t want to trust in this. I don’t want to believe in this, because, I think, we are talking about an amount of money which is not right.”
“I saw the last contract, the last contract with Carlos Tevez.
“I think we are talking about a lot of money. This type of offer is incredible, and it’s very difficult for the players to say ‘no’.
“But I must be honest, I think it’s not right. You must have respect for the money.
“I don’t agree with this situation.”
