Antonio Conte will not stand in John Terry's way if the defender decides to return to the international stage.
Terry retired from international football in September 2012 when he was charged with misconduct into allegations the 35-year-old racially abused Anton Ferdinand during Chelsea's defeat to QPR in October 2011 - he was subsequently found guilty and fined £22,000 as well as serving a four-match ban.
He has been linked with a return to the England squad on more than one occasion over the last four years and earlier this week new England manager Sam Allardyce hinted that he would speak to Terry regarding a potential return.
A return to international football could have a bearing on his club game, but Conte insists only Terry and Allardyce can decide whether he should play for the national team again.
"I'm a former international team coach so I know this situation and prefer it to be solved between Sam Allardyce and John Terry. That's the right way," he said.
"John Terry has a great attitude during training and is working very hard. I'm very happy with his commitment.
"But for the international team, it is very important for it to be solved between Sam Allardyce and John Terry."
