Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wants David Luiz to play through the pain of a broken wrist against Atletico Madrid next Wednesday.
Luiz suffered the injury during the first half of Sunday's Premier League goalless draw with Arsenal after he ran into the advertising hoardings at Stamford Bridge.
The Brazil defender was fit enough to play the second half, but was sent off after 87 minutes of the London derby for a reckless tackle on Sead Kolasinac.
Luiz was suspended for Wednesday night's 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest and will also miss the Premier League games against Stoke on Saturday at the Bet 365 Stadium, and against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 30 September, which is live on BT Sport 1 on the eir Sport pack [kick off 5.30pm].
But Conte expects Luiz to play against Atletico in their new Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in the Champions League on Wednesday, 26 September, a match which will be shown live on eir Sport 1 [kick off 7.45pm].
"He must be okay," Conte said.
"David is an important player for us. For sure he will be ready for the game against Atletico Madrid."
Spanish forward Pedro will be fit for Saturday's game at Stoke, despite being substituted against Arsenal at half-time with an ankle problem.
"Pedro is fit for the game against Stoke on Saturday," Conte continued.
"Now it is very important to prepare. It is a very important game for us.
"This season Stoke have won at home against Arsenal and drawn against Manchester United. We must be ready."
