Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has claimed his side did not have the ‘right attitude’ following their 3-0 loss to London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates.
The Pensioners found themselves three goals down in the first half thanks to strikes from Alexis Sánchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil and struggled to work their way back into the tie.
Attacking displays were at a premium for the Pensioners as they only registered one shot on target throughout the game.
Chelsea now fall to 8th and the former Juventus coach suggested that his team lacked quality as a team.
"I think that we didn't have the right attitude from the first minute. After today we are thinking we must work a lot because we are a great team only on paper. It is always a team problem rather than individuals, when nothing works it is very hard for a player to play well." Conte told the BBC.
Gary Cahill was at fault for the opening goal which seen Sanchez nip the ball from him but his coach refused to blame him or any individual for the loss.
"I don't want to talk about the mistake [Gary Cahill]. it is not right for the player. We win and lose as a team. If someone thinks this team is ready to fight, I think we must wait to improve a lot to come back a great team on the pitch, not just on paper. " he said.
Conte’s men will face strugglers Hull City on the 1st of October and will hope to re-establish their title challenge.
