Costa suffers broken nose

Striker to wear a face mask

Diego Costa will wear a face mask when Chelsea play Newcastle on Saturday after breaking his nose in training.

Costa collided with an unnamed academy player during Thursday's training session and was left nursing a broken nose.

Interim manager Guus Hiddink has confirmed the striker, who has netted six times in his last Premier League outings, will be available for Saturday's clash with Newcastle with the Spaniard set to wear a protective mask.

"Yesterday in training Diego got in a duel, got his nose broken. It was not this tough duel, but he put his nose on the back of the head and he was very unlucky," Hiddink told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

Cesar Azpilicueta is currently wearing a face mask as he recovers from a facial injury.

Referring to the latest incident, Hiddink added: "Today is the day they put on a mask. We are a team with a lot of masks. A Zorro team.

"I hope. I'm not sure, but I think he will be available."
