Coutinho fit to face Saints
Philippe Coutinho could make his return from injury in Wednesday's EFL Cup semi-final first leg against Southampton.
Coutinho has been sidelined with an ankle ligament injury since the end of November and only returned to full training on Saturday.
Despite his limited work, the Brazil international has been included in Jurgen Klopp's squad for the trip to St Mary's with the manager revealing that he could feature at some point.
"I think Phil is fit enough to be a big part of the squad. (It) means there could be minutes. It depends on the game," Klopp told his pre-match press conference.
"It's been six or seven weeks. It's long. But no final decision has been made until now.
"I think [it was] the third complete session, tomorrow is the fourth."
Liverpool travel to Old Trafford on Sunday to take on Manchester United in the Premier League and Klopp is pleased with how Jordan Henderson, Joel Matip and James Milner are recovering from their respective injuries.
"All good. No new injuries, and all the rest are on their way back. How close? It’s different," Klopp said.
"Joel, first steps, if you want, in team training. Millie, no issues anymore. Hendo, on a very good way, because he is a really mentally strong guy.
"It’s still painful, I think, but he is doing well. We will see what we can do with him. Hopefully, Thursday [he’ll be in] team training."
