Leinster head coach Leo Cullen reflected on 'a positive outcome' after watching his side overcome a spirited Dragons side 35-29 at Rodney Parade on Friday night but was less than satisfied with the performance.
The reigning PRO14 champions conceded ten penalties in what Cullen termed 'a very stop-start first half', but were much improved after the break.
The result, which included a bonus point, leaves them five clear of Ulster at the top of Conference A with a trip to the Kingspan to come in a fortnight's time.
Leinster struggled to impose themselves in the opening period against a battling Dragons outfit who were good value for their 15-14 half-time lead, the visitors' scores coming from Peter Dooley and Scott Penny tries which were converted by Ross Byrne while Sam Davies kicked five penalties for the home side.
Josh Murphy and Dan Sheehan crossed for a much-improved Leinster in the second period with a penalty try giving them the breathing space they needed to resists a late Dragons resurgence.
