Ger Cunningham is to remain at the helm of the Dublin hurlers for the 2017 season.
Cunningham was handed a three-year term when he was named as Anthony Daly's successor in 2014 and the Cork man has confirmed he will carry on for another season.
"There's a process ongoing. It's like anything, in any game you just review what happened this year. You review the two seasons and see where we're going to go," Cunningham is quoted as saying in the Irish Sun.
"When all that is in order and sorted out, it will be in place. We had a chat but between holidays on my side and on the lads' side of it, we'll meet up again in a couple of weeks."
Dublin beat Wexford in the Leinster SHC but defeats to Kilkenny and Cork brought an early end to their summer, but Cunningham is confident they can reach the All-Ireland semi-final next year.
"That's the challenge and that's the plan," Cunningham added. "That's what we need to do. You saw how good last weekend was.
"The work that is needed to get in there is very difficult. The standard is very high across the board, fitness and skill levels and all of that. They are the top four teams on paper. They are the top four teams in the bookies when the best are down for an All-Ireland.
"They've been the top four all year. Then you have Clare, Limerick, ourselves, Cork and Wexford. On any given day, we'd hope to be competitive.
"We were for 35 minutes against Kilkenny but on any given day to be competitive against all the rest of the teams that are there, to get to that level, is the challenge."
