Matteo Darmian has insisted he is happy at Manchester United, despite reports linking him to a move to Torino.
The Serie A side have reportedly bid £12.7m for the United defender after a season at United where he was in out and out of Jose Mourinho’s plans. However, Darmian finished the season by starting the Europa League final against Ajax and had clearly worked his way back into favour with the Special One.
As well as the current links with Torino, he has also been linked with Juventus over the last number of months.
But his most recent comments to the press have played down any such links, saying: “Every time I read something about my future... but (there is) nothing news (wise).
“I think also it is a part of our work, these kind of rumours.
“Like I said before, I am happy here so nothing news (wise). I am a Manchester United player - that's it.”
Darmian’s versatility at both full-back slots could be one of the deciding factors in Mourinho keeping him at Old Trafford this summer and Darmian alluded to this flexibility, saying he his happy on either flank.
“I always say the position doesn't matter to me,” he said, having proven capable in both full-back slots.
“If I have to play left or right, I work hard to be ready when the manager gives me an opportunity and that's it.
“I try to do my best every time, every game. I try to work hard during the week and that's my philosophy.
“I prefer maybe to play on the right side, but no problem at all.”
