De Gea and Rooney named in tour squad

Wayne Rooney and David de Gea have been included in the Manchester United squad for the tour of China.

Jose Mourinho has called to seven players who were involved in either Euro 2016 or the Copa America this summer as he bids to get to know his squad ahead of the new Premier League season. However, it remains to be seen whether any of the players will play in China.

England's Chris Smalling and Marcus Rashford, Argentina's Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo, and Northern Ireland star Paddy McNair have also been named in the 25-man squad.

Fit-again Luke Shaw is included along with new signings Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mikhitaryan, but James Wilson, Joel Pereira, Tyler Blackett and Guillermo Varela miss out on selection despite featuring in the 2-0 win over Wigan at the weekend.

As expected Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been omitted from the travelling party.

The Reds will play Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on Friday before taking on Manchester City in Beijing on Monday.
