Mathieu Debuchy has confirmed Arsene Wenger prevented him from joining Manchester United.
The Frenchman joined Bordeaux on loan for the remainder of the season having struggled for game time at Arsenal this season due to the form of Hector Bellerin.
United attempted to sign the defender during the January transfer window but Wenger blocked the move because he was not keen to help out a rival, much to Debuchy's frustration.
"Yes, at the end of the transfer window they came in. They contacted my agents," Debuchy told Canal+ when asked whether United had expressed an interest in signing him.
"I was disappointed, obviously. If I had the chance to go to Manchester United it would have been magnificent.
"Unfortunately it wasn't the case. I discussed it with the coach too, who said that obviously he couldn't help out a rival."
Debuchy joined Arsenal from Newcastle last summer but his first season at the Emirates was blighted by two serious injuries which kept him sidelined for large parts of the season.
However, he struggled to break into the first-team this season and he is frustrated at not being afforded more game time.
"I'm a little bit annoyed with him (Wenger). It's his choice [not to give him playing time]," Debuchy went on.
"I came back well this summer, I had a good pre-season.
"I was able to talk to him to know my future at Arsenal. He said that I would have game time and that we would discuss it in December."
