Ireland look set to be without Ultan Dillane for the start of the RBS Six Nations as a result of the ankle injury he sustained in Connacht's loss to Ulster.
Dillane has won eight caps since making his Ireland debut against England at Twickenham last season but he is a major doubt for the opener against Scotland on February 4 as well as the trip to Italy a week later.
The 23-year-old is due to visit a specialist to determine the extent of the injury but he is facing at least five to six weeks on the sidelines, although his absence could be extended if surgery is deemed necessary.
“He is seeing an ankle specialist to determine that treatment plan. The best case scenario is five or six weeks, whether he is going to go down for surgery or no surgery recovery,” Connacht head coach Pat Lam confirmed.
